The Fire Burns

I enjoyed your warmth, your love, your feeling
As I got closer to the the flames, I burned
The smoke and sirens should had warned me
But Ignored it all, cause I was captured by your heat

I ignored the flammable warning sign
Distracted by the beauty of it all, blinded by the love
The fire saw no mercy as it spreads on my body
The fire has no feelings, no concern for the pain it causes
Its only job is to burn so it can satisfy its self and grow

No firefighter could rescue me
For I was way beyond help
Engulf in flames, engulf with pain
My heart has been evaporated
Nothing left but a cloud of smoke

The sprinklers set off after the fact
Coughing nonstop like an asthma attack
I can't breathe, I want to breathe again
The fire has done its damaged
It tempted me with its warmth, its love, its feeling
Then end up burning me with its flames as I got closer
Im left with burnt marks that will never heal

Third degree burns they say
Face and body never to be the same
Not trusting to be around fire anymore
Not wanting to feel warmth, love, or some feeling ever again

My burns are left on me for the world to see
To see what fire does to a man who gets too close
